Make Your Favorite Guys Burpees | Movember Burpee Thon 2017

burpeethon

With the success of last year’s Burpee-thon Event…

Burpee-Thon Results From 2016

  • Team Preign mantis raised over $1300 for Team Preign Mantis
  • We had over 20 different people/companies donate to our Team
  • As a team we completed 3,005 Burpees as a Team on Friday

…But it wasn’t just about the amount of money raised.

AAIA_wDGAAAAAQAAAAAAAAnaAAAAJGM3OGJmYzQ5LWEyODMtNGYyZS05ZjAzLWE2YzBkYzZmOTYwZg

The Burpee-Thon event helped raise a ton of awareness (who doesn’t like watching men suffer doing burpees), motivated more Reign Fam members to get involved with Movember, and created a positive spotlight for the men in our community who are living a fit lifestyle!

So, we decided to do it again and here are the details.

Burpee-Thon 2017

BurpeePopularScience-1024x379

All donations between Monday, November 13th through Wednesday, November 15th 12pm will count towards our Burpee-Thon Totals!

And if you think for one second that making our guys do all these Burpees is going to make you feel bad…

Don’t.

What’s going to make us feel bad is if these Men’s Health Statistics get any worse. Just check out some of these stats to see why we’re motivated and fired up.

Movember-stats-1001x1024

Men’s Health Stats In The U.S.

  • 1 in 2 men will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime.

  • Testicular cancer is the most common cancer in young men aged 15 – 35 years
  • More than four times as many men as women die by suicide in the United States

When Do We Get To See The Burpees

burpees-600x461

We will all be collectively doing the total number of Burpees starting Wednesday, November 15th 2017 – plus any individual donations will be added to specific team members on that same day.

Our goal is to Facebook live and Instagram live bigger groups of guys working together but I’m sure you’ll see team members throughout the day doing Burpees.

So…

Be sure to make it into the gym on Wednesday! (don’t want to miss this one)

Any members that are traveling or away will also be doing it on Wednesday and will make an effort to either video the total or take a picture.

Ok…

Now onto the Member Spotlight and Andy C. who has not only been holding it down for the 5am Morning Crew but crushing workouts! (A Reign Fam Favorite)

Name: Andy Croasdell
Age: 48
Occupation: Architect & Construction Director

What (who) brought you to Reign?

temporary (33)

Sharmy and Sam.

Sharmy’s daughter and mine play soccer together and we used to see each other at the Y working out. Sam and I worked out briefly there as well and shared a Y trainer.

The trainers moved on and I wanted to try a different style of work out about the same time Sharmy and then Sam joined Reign.

Both spoke highly of everyone and everything about Reign so here I am.

What is the most significant change – whether social, physical, mental…you have experienced since you have been here?

Mental- everyone (coaches and members) are supportive so working out/ changing lifestyle habits isn’t a lonely journey.

I lost 51 pounds a year and half ago, gained back 25 and am now getting back on the band wagon.
The support makes it so much easier.

What is your favorite thing about Reign?

19466342_659284790933313_5731600499184233531_o

The camraderie.

Everyone here is there to work out and take care of themselves. There are no pretentions, no divas, etc. I like that we have every body type, size and shape and all get along.

I have to add that I really like the focus on technique as well. We’ve all heard stories about workout injuries due to bad form and I didn’t want to aggravate old injuries acquired throughout my life.

What are your goals or aspirations leading into the New Year?

holiday-survival-kit-red

✅ Survive the holidays with my family

✅ Get a new job on the client side instead of the consultant or contractor side.

✅ Lose weight and strengthen my lower back

✅ Mix up my workouts between Reign Fit and Barbell.

✅ Get some XXL Reign swag (I swear its my shoulders and not my belly)
(Albert: “I promise that we will have XXL sizes in our next Apparel Releases”)

Share your favorite memory so far at Reign.

Going to have say it’s Sam and the challenges.

samsam

She made me do my first challenge, called me out on the second when I was “indulging” on a Friday night and generally gives me a (smartass) push along so I don’t get away with much.

Plus, between Sharmy, Hillary and now Roneida, I don’t stand a chance as they all know my wife…

What would the title of your autobiography be? Why?

Waving flag of Australia and UK

“Confused Alien” because I get asked a lot “Where are you from?”

I was born in the UK, lived in Australia from 3 months to 13, visiting the UK from 1 to 6 months at a time, and moved to the US in 1981 (some of you weren’t even thought about then).

I’m a UK citizen that was never quite Australian when living in Melbourne, an Australian citizen when I was in the UK referred to as a “wild colonial boy” and a Permanent Resident Alien in the US. When asked where I’m from, I don’t really have a straight answer. All three countries are red, white and blue and very similar, very different, and have had major influences on me.

My accent changes depending on where the person I’m talking to is from and I’ve been know to switch words in the same sentence (lift : elevator, hood: bonnet, etc) if multiple accents are present. And it comes out a bit more when drinking…

There’s a St. Paddy’s day story involving a booze cruise, a kilt and a naughty nurse in there for another time.

Who is your Hero? Why?

My Dad.

Watching him struggle along with Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s for the last 6 years of his life with as much dignity as he did was impressive and inspiring.

“I didn’t realize how difficult losing that confidant, mentor and support would be while he was still alive but unable to communicate, He passed away in May, 2016.”

Both Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s scare the hell out of me so working out, nutrition and lifestyle changes became pretty important the end of 2013 when Dad really started going downhill.

I don’t feel like I’m 48 but you also have to eventually come to terms that your body and mind aren’t going to bounce back like they used to.

What are your hobbies outside of Reign?

1618099_10205762789698500_3376870730003741257_o

Skiing, fishing, boating, tinkering on my cabin, trying to golf, Seattle Sounders.

I had more prior to marriage but…

What advice would you give to anyone looking to start their fitness journey?

Don’t do it on your own.

Get some professional help so you can exercise correctly for your level and body type, maintain form, etc.

✅ Find some support to keep you going.

✅ Look at more than just exercise. Realize that working out by itself isn’t going to lose weight so make the lifestyle adjustments needed for your nutrition, sleep, etc.

✅ Every injury you’ve ever had will come back to haunt you. You need patience to work through, re-align and strengthen those old injury areas. It took me a year to strentghen a knee and my lower back. Now I need to work on ankles, a shoulder… and the dreaded belly.

BONUS: Share something we don’t know about you….

I absolutely hate cottage cheese because it makes me think of baby vomit. I won’t talk about it or look at it and don’t try to get me to eat it.

AND…

Fill In The Blank…

I Love…

Water. Swim, boat, ski, dive, salt or fresh, if there’s water, I’m in.

I Am…

A twin. My brother is the ugly one

I Wish…

Burpees didn’t exist. If I ever meet whoever came up with those…

I Eat…

All the healthy stuff all the time (lol). Actually, I usually do pretty well from Sunday night to Friday noon. Friday night and the weekend are up for grabs but much better than they used to be.

c0c7ea7baedaa2a4024c061c2cc2261c--fitness-humour-crossfit-humor

Our judges will be made up of coaches and Reign Fam VOLUNTEERS!

They will briefed on the events, movement standards, and on how to judge each team. Please remember that they are volunteering their time for our Reign Fitness community and are here to keep things fair.

If they tell you no rep, don’t get upset just keep going and work on improving the movement.

If they continue to no rep you and not explaining why, which they will, just ask them why you’re getting no repped.

The Events | Scaled

Event 1 | Boom Shake Shake

scaled

Beforehand, the team decides which athletes wants to complete which lift. Each athlete completes one Section, not all three .

At the call of 3-2-1 Go, the first athlete is up – and onto the Max Wall Balls.
This athlete has 4:00 to complete as many wall balls as possible.  Wall ball standards are…

✅ Hip must go below knees at the bottom of the movement.

✅ Wall ball must hit the middle of the target (Men 10 feet, Women 9 feet) with the designated weight ball. (Men 20lbs/Women 14lbs)

Their total reps will count towards their team total.

At the 4:00 mark on the clock, we transition to the second athlete, who will be completing 21-15-9 workout with Squats and H/R Pushups followed by max sit-ups.

✅ Hips must go below knees on the squat and finish all the way through at the top.

✅ Chest must be all the way down on the Hand Release Pushup while the hands completely come off the ground.

✅ Complete 21 squat and pushups, 15 squats and pushups, and then 9 squats and pushups before moving onto the max sit-ups.

Same system applies here… 4:00 to complete the 21-15-9 workout and max sit-ups. Your max sit-ups total will go towards your team score.

Finally, at the 8:00 on the clock, we start our final window for the AMRAP workout in which the athlete will complete 10 KBSDHP and 10 Box Jumps. Only the total number of box jumps will count towards the score.

✅ KB SDHP standards, kettlebell must touch the ground and handle must reach the collar bone with hips finished all the way through.

✅ Kb weights will be 45/25 and the box height will be 24″/20″. (Step Ups are allowed)

Total reps of scored exercises from all three workouts is your team score for Event 1.

Event 2 | Megan’s Dirty Thirty

EVENT2SCALED

At 3-2-1 Go, the first athlete in each team will start on the rower and complete 30 calories. Once they finish and receive the confirmation from judge, the Athlete 2 can start their 30 calorie row and again when they finish and receive confirmation, the Final Athlete can start their 30 calories.

After the team completes their 90 calories they will move onto the DB Thruster section where athlete 1 (who started first on the rower) will complete their 10 reps of dumbbell thrusters .

Once athlete 1 finishes, athlete 2 can complete their 10 reps, and so on.

Each team will be provided with the dumbbells necessary for the workout. Please let your judge know if you have men and women on your team and need additional dumbbells.

After all athletes complete the 10 thruster reps, you will move onto the synchronized burpee section. All burpees must be the same level. (If you scale, everyone must scale).

✅ All three athletes must be down at the same time and standing up with hips through at the same time.

Event 3 | Stronger Together

event3

Before the workout begins, teams will decide the order of rotation (Athlete #1, #2, and #3). Inside this whole workout, one athlete is working while the other two are resting.

3-2-1 Go the workout starts with 75 synchronized squats. One person will start with the dynaball and you can pass around however you want or have that one athlete hold the entire time.

Station #1 – Assault Bike
Nothing too “science-y” here, but do know that each team will have a single bike.

Station #2 – D Ball Work
Athlete #1 will complete D Ball Thrusters.
Athlete #2 will complete D Ball OH Alternating Lunges. Each leg counts as 12 1 rep
Athlete #3 will complete D Ball Front Squats

Station #3 – KB Work
Athlete #1 will complete Goblet Squats.
Athlete #2 will complete kb dl high pulls.
Athlete #3 will complete kb deadlifts.

Once you complete all stations you will go back to Station #1 and continue through the sequence as you did before until the 15 minute time limit.

Every rep counts and your total reps will be your score!

The Events | Performance

Event 1 | Boom Shake Shake

Event 1 Performance

Beforehand, the team decides which athletes wants to complete which lift. Each athlete completes one movement, not all three.

At the call of 3-2-1 Go, the first athlete is up – and onto the Deadlift.
This athlete has 4:00 to find their best heavy lift, and can take as many attempts as they would like to in the 4:00 window. Their best lift will count towards the team total.

At the 4:00 mark on the clock, we transition to the second athlete, who will be completing the 1 RM Back Squat.  Same system applies here… 4:00 to find their best Squat for the day, taking as many attempts as they would like.

Finally, at the 8:00 on the clock, we start our final window for the Clean athlete. This can be a power or squat clean. Same applies here… 4:00 to find their best lift inside the window.

Teammates are allowed to help change weights for teammates, and clips must be on every single attempt! Weights will be evenly distributed to each station.

Sum of the best lifts at all three movements is your team score for workout #1.

Event 2 | Megan’s Dirty Thirty

Event 2 Megan dirty thirty

At 3-2-1 Go, the first athlete in each team will start on the rower and complete 30 calories. Once they finish and receive the confirmation from the judge, the next athlete can start their 30 calorie row and when they receive confirmation from the judge the last athlete can start their 30 calories.

After the team completes their 90 calories they will move onto the BB Thruster section where Athlete 1 (who started first on the rower) will complete their 10 reps of Barbell thrusters.

*We will have barbells ready for you but please let your judge know if there are men and women on your team so we can prep the weights.

Once athlete 1 finishes, athlete 2 can complete their 10 reps, and so on.

After all athletes complete the 10 thruster reps, you will move onto the synchronized burpee section.

✅ All three athletes must have their chests down on the ground at the same time and also have their hips through at the same time at the top position.

*in the case that you can not complete the designated barbell weight, you can scale the weight down but will have to take on a 1 minute time penalty which will take place on the athletes round.

Event 3 | Stronger Together

event3 performance

Before the workout begins, teams will decide the order of rotation (Athlete #1, #2, and #3). Inside this whole workout, one athlete is working while the other two are resting.

3-2-1 Go the workout starts with 75 synchronized squats. One person will start with the dynaball and you can pass around however you want or have that one athlete hold the entire time.

Station #1 – Assault Bike
Nothing too “science-y” here, but do know that each team will have a single bike.

Station #2 – Box + DB Work
Athlete #1 will complete Box Jumps
Athlete #2 will complete Dumbbell alternating snatches. Each arm counts as 1 rep and dumbbell must start from the ground position and the hips, knees, and arms must all be locked out at the top.
Athlete #3 will complete Dumbbell Oh Lunges. This will be completed with a single dumbbell in an alternating fashion. You can hold the dumbbell on any arm overhead, you do not have to switch.

*in the case the athlete is no repped, they will be required to complete that leg first in order to continue forward.

ex.

Rep 1 = left leg

Rep 2 = right leg

Rep 3 = no rep

Rep 4 can not be performed on the right leg. You will have to complete the left leg for rep 4 in order to move on.

Station #3 – KB Work
Athlete #1 will complete Goblet Squats.
Athlete #2 will complete kb dl high pulls.
Athlete #3 will complete kb swings.

Once you complete all stations you will go back to Station #1 and continue through the sequence as you did before until the 15 minute time limit.

Every rep counts and your total reps will be your score!

5 Ways To Mentally Prepare Before A Competition | Coach Jodeci

Jo Compete
As an athlete, your preparation for the day of competition goes far beyond what you do in the gym. While physical training is critical, mental preparation is also essential to your success.

Your mind is a powerful tool and in this post, I’ll cover 5 ways to help you mentally prepare before your next competition.

Tip 1 | Imagine Your Success

quote-i-am-a-big-believer-in-visualization-i-run-through-my-races-mentally-so-that-i-feel-allyson-felix-9-41-17
Mental practice and visualization has been used by many athletes to help them prepare for competition. When you mentally rehearse the events, and think about how you want to tackle each movement, it can be as effective as physical practice alone.

Also, visualizing yourself overcoming some challenges that might happen during an event can help you build confidence in yourself.

Tip 2 | Remember Your “Why”

url
Take some time to go over your purpose for competing and training.

“What’s the reason you chose to compete in the first place?”

Step back from training for a moment and remember your “why”. When you re-evaluate the purpose of your training, it tends to give you even more motivation to complete each workout at your fullest potential.

Tip 3 | Eliminate Self-Defeating Thoughts

AAEAAQAAAAAAAAIZAAAAJDk2OGQ3YmFhLTZhODMtNDk1NS05ODVhLTM1NDA5ZjUyYzRjMQ
On average, we have anywhere from 50,000-70,000 thoughts a day. How many of those thoughts are negative, self-defeating about yourself?

Self-talk can often become a self-fulfilling prophecy.

“When you think positive thoughts about yourself, you have more of a chance to perform better. If you catch yourself saying negative things to yourself, make an effort to replace those thoughts with positive self-talk.”

Tip 4 | Look Back at Your Success

18489671_797879450367222_1735681318515951638_o
Every success you’ve had, whether it was for a competition or a workout at the gym, you have always come out of it with learning something that will help you build confidence to perform well next time.

Recognize that there are no mistakes when it comes to the big picture and to value the feedback for improvement.

Being a successful athlete comes with the process of learning, growth, and self-development.

Tip 5 | Using Meditation to Get You in “The Zone”

2015wk6_seahawks_carolina_blog_01
Every athlete has been in “the zone”. It’s when you are completely laser focused on the task you are completing. Too many thoughts can distract an athlete “the zone” mindset.

Meditation can be a useful tool for athletes to have a sense of awareness. There are many type of meditation whether that’s using an app, going to yoga, listening to music, or anything else that helps your mind have a clear sense of awareness.

It’s always important to remember that your mind requires regular training and practice in order to perform at its best.

With these few tips, it can help create a stronger mindset for that competition day and also for your day to day life. We all want to get stronger physically, but it’s important to get stronger mentally as well.

Reign Member Spotlight | John L.|Highlighting Reign Men and Men’s Health For Movember 2017

johnl

In an effort to highlight and bring more awareness to Men’s Health for Movember, we will be introducing our new Member Spotlight Segment which will feature a different Reign Fam Member each month…

…to help us get to know the individuals that make up our community better.

But this month…

We will be featuring a different guy each week for the month.

These Reign Men were chosen because they exemplify what it means to live a fit and active lifestyle in order to improve their overall quality of life.

If you haven’t checked out what Reign Fitness is doing for Movember take a quick second to read through the post below…

Stop Men Dying Too Young | Reign Men Called To Step Up | Movember 2017

Ok…

Now onto the Member Spotlight and there is no better guy to kick things off then John…

Name: John Lestock

What (who) brought you to Reign?

18766815_806476559507511_8570861693222513422_o

My wife Sarah introduced me to Reign in early 2015 – she paid for me to participate in the challenge for my birthday present.

The challenge at the time was tough, but I enjoyed working out and the experienced convinced me to join Reign.

What is the most significant change – whether social, physical, mental…you have experienced since you have been here?

hollowrock

Over time, not only have a lost a few pounds (at least 10 pounds that have consistently stayed off since 2015), but I also feel like I’m a bit more muscular in my arms and legs as well as a bit slimmer around the waist.

Physically, I’m in much better shape than I was a few years ago. I can consistently perform exercises that I used to struggle with just starting out at Reign.

“The biggest change for me has been mental. I feel like I’ve become stronger mentally – more focused, more perseverance, more determination.  I’m more comfortable with pushing myself out of my comfort zone, and I’m less afraid of failure.”

Also, I think my diet has improved significantly since joining Reign. I don’t always stick with it, but I do try to eat a more paleo-friendly diet. Over the last few years I’ve done a better job of cutting out unhealthy food.

What is your favorite thing about Reign?

18673176_803508573137643_910065557537006235_o

My friends.

“I love everyone that works out with me, especially the 5:00am crew. We work out hard together, and we support each other. We’re definitely a family, and it’s my family that keeps me coming back to Reign.”

What are your goals or aspirations leading into the New Year?

12017700_720202581445219_2876819067992648562_o

I can always improve my diet, improve my workout, and focus on losing a few more pounds.  I’d like to work on improving my upper body strength.

I’d love that by the end of 2018 I’m able to do at least 20 good pull-ups.

Share your favorite memory so far at Reign.

18423000_796576937164140_319603369232265968_o

There was a challenge we did in May where everyone was assigned to a specific team.  We participated in a team event on Friday, and Sarah and I were competing together against two members of the other team.

I remember we struggled to complete the workout, and we were racing to beat the other team.  Near the end, Sarah struggled with weights because of her back, and I stepped in to do more reps so that we could finish sooner.

We barely beat the other team, but the experience was so emotionally draining for Sarah that we hugged and held each other for a short while.

I surprised myself – I didn’t think I could work that hard or do way more reps than I normally do.  I knew I had to do it, and I just push myself.  I was happy we won that part of the challenge, but I was amazed at what I could do under the circumstances.

What would the title of your autobiography be? Why?

“My Journey”.

12622124_10206167660056080_8232338837505826032_o

I think it best describes my life so far. It has been an unexpected journey.  I thought it was a big deal to move back to Chicago from Northwest Indiana after graduating from college.

I had no idea that getting married would lead to living near Houston, starting a family, fleeing a hurricane, moving to Renton, and just traveling all over the U.S. over the past 20 years. I’ve experience a lot – both good and bad – and I’ve learned so much from those experiences.

But, the book isn’t finished – I’m just getting started.

Who is your Hero? Why?

My grandfather.

He was such a huge influence in my life when I was growing up. I never knew my father, so he kind of took his place as a major father figure in my life.

I learned so much from him; I always wanted to make him proud.

What are your hobbies outside of Reign?

11058762_10204746461126995_2338638437924617324_n

Outside of Reign, I like to go hiking when I have time.

I also enjoy spending time with my family.  And I’m a huge sci-fi fan – I love Star Wars, Star Trek and Doctor Who.

13235127_10156912968455300_1198168207380169081_o

I’m also active in a few professional organizations – American Payroll Association (APA) and International Society of Certified Employee Benefit Specialists (ISCEBS).

I’ve been active in the local chapters of both organizations  – including serving as chapter president.  I’m currently a Vice President of the APA.

What superpower would you want to possess? Why?

The ability to time-travel.  I’d love to see cool things in the past, and I think it would be cool to see how things could be in the future.

What advice would you give to anyone looking to start their fitness journey?

Every journey starts with a single step.

“Don’t be afraid to take that first step. Even a small step can make a huge difference. You just have to do it.”

BONUS: Share something we don’t know about you….

I have a tattoo and I’m a first-degree blackbelt in taekwondo.

10885144_10152809146155914_6968499052282046903_n

Fill In The Blank…

I Love…

Spending time with my family and friends.

I Am…

Grateful for the time I’ve been given.

I Wish…

I would have been this active and motivated in my younger years.

I Eat…

what tastes good, and sometimes I’ll also eat what tastes good and is good for me.

5 Tips To A Healthier Holiday Season | Coach Mesha

Aqua-and-red-platter-42-1

The holiday season is just around the corner starting first with Halloween!

Then…

It’s Thanksgiving dinners and Christmas cookies! (My absolute favorite season!)

I know that this time of the year can be challenging in terms of eating well and exercising regularly as your weekends will soon be booked with social gatherings, potlucks and happy hours.

Some people do just fine sticking to their routine; but there are many of you out there who throw in the towel and stop doing the things that work.

“Like eating real food, meal prepping, scheduling workouts in your planner and drinking water.”

Just because the holiday season is here…

It doesn’t mean you should throw all your good eating and workout habits out the window.

So…

How can you stay stress-free around all the yummy food and goodies you’re about to be surrounded by?

Here are five tips to a healthier holiday season…

Tip 1 | Be Real With Yourself

188-3-large

I’ve heard these lines before…

“I am only going to eat a sliver of pumpkin pie.”

or

“I am not going to eat any carbs on Thanksgiving”

or my favorite…

“I am just going to do a double tomorrow and eat less because I ate soooo much candy today.”

Sure, this may seem like the most logical approach but let’s be REAL! It’s going to be hard to avoid delicious holiday goodies and more than likely it may backfire and steer you further away from your goals.

We are all human and it’s okay not to be perfect. Allow yourself to approach your food with a positive mindset and enjoy it.

“Finding the right balance between sharing special moments and focusing on your goals is important, so don’t be hard on yourself. Allow yourself to embrace being flexible with your food and know that these are only a few meals out of the year!”

Tip 2 | Out of Sight – Out of Mind

landscape-1450738482-elle-potluck-04-getty

You don’t have to eat it just because it’s there!

Most of us have been taught to eat because it’s disrespectful if we don’t and eating becomes a habit. Our different cultures have foods that are made only for certain occasions and breaking bread with others provides us comfort and love.

There is going to be treats everywhere you go. From potlucks, work events, your kid’s school, in your home…

“Food will be there but it doesn’t mean you have to try it or have it all.”

Ask yourself what your favorite thing is and treat yourself. What’s the point of eating what doesn’t get you excited?

Tip 3 | Slow Your Roll

1*3G7getZU_eFjz3KqzJHcjQ@2x

Remember that 15 minute nutrition exercise where you time yourself and chew each bite of food 30 times? Obviously, it’s going to be difficult to eat slower at your holiday gathering but it is definitely worth a try!

Slow your roll and take your time this holiday season.

Try timing yourself and take at minimum 15 minutes to eat your meal. (harder then you may think)

Why 15 minutes?

“Well, it takes 15-20 minutes for your stomach to send the satiety (fullness) signals to your brain and if you rush through your meal, you are more likely to overeat.”

Enjoy the experience of eating with family and friends because slowing down will help your brain signal to your stomach when you’re getting full. Plus, when you are surrounded by loved ones and good food you’ll feel so much better if you just slow down.

Tip 4 | Have A Plan

1889700-Jillian-Michaels-Quote-If-you-fail-to-plan-you-pretty-much-plan-to

Whether you have decided to eat mindfully or pack your scale, developing a plan beforehand allows you to stay focused.

Remember that this is a choice you’re making to invest in your goals and to your health and nobody can take that away from you. At the end of the day, it comes down to owning your truth and giving yourself permission to focus on your priorities.

The holidays give you a chance to spend time with your loved ones, but remember, that includes giving yourself attention and care too!

Once you have created your plan stick to it!

“If you decided you will only have a taste of dessert, treat that like an unbreakable promise to yourself that can’t be changed last minute (regardless of how delicious the pecan pie smells).”

Tip 5 | Be Active & Move

FrontWalkingDogs

Being active is important for many reasons and is an essential part of your life, especially during this time of year when life seems to get busier than ever.

Being active can help you stay on point with your health & fitness goals, it can help offset extra (holiday) calories, and most importantly it can help build momentum going into the New Year – so you don’t get caught making the same resolutions over and over.

Although it may be challenging, the best strategy is to try and stick with your regular workout routine.

But if you can’t get to the gym…

Make an effort to take advantage of every opportunity to be active.

You can…

✅ Do a bodyweight workout at home.

✅ Conquer some household chores.

✅ Walk the dog or walk with your family after a meal.

✅ Take the stairs whenever you can.

✅ Take a break from your desk and stand up frequently, etc.

This year doesn’t have to be stressful.

With a little bit of planning, flexibility, mindful eating and exercise you will have the skills to make this holiday season a happy, healthy and tasty holiday season!

teampreignmantis

The truth is…

“Men are facing a health crisis that isn’t being talked about. They are dying too young, before their time. We’re taking action and we need your help.”

This year…

Reign Fitness will be calling all Men to join our Movember Team, “Team Preign Mantis” as we set out to raise money & awareness for Men’s Health.

Not only will we be fundraising and bringing awareness to this topic…

The Men of Team Preign Mantis will also be leading by example and committing to living a fit and healthy lifestyle throughout the month of November.

fb-og-image

Men’s Health is an issue that so many of us here at Reign (not just men) have been affected by whether it was a husband, brother, son, father, or friend who us battling or has battled prostate cancer, testicular cancer, heart disease, or even mental health. (and it’s not just these things that are affecting men)

And we want to make an effort to help because EFFORT COUNTS!

Does Movember and Growing A Mustache Really Work?

6a00e3933af988883401bb07ad40f4970d

How Do You Participate?

✅ Join our Team here ➡️ https://moteam.co/preign-mantis and create your account.

✅ Clean shave on October 31st and start growing that mustache. (You can groom, trim, and shape – just don’t shave that stache)

Some of you might be thinking why a mustache?

Well to put it simply, it brings attention to you and when people ask about it…

You can share why you’re doing it, what you’re doing it for, and how it’s important to you and the Reign Community!

✅ Spend November committing to living a fit & healthy lifestyle, which is also a great motivator this time of the year to stay on top of your game.

✅ Help raise money by sharing your journey online using our team and your personal links. You can also participate in our money raising events like the Burpee-Thon.

How did we do last year? In 2016…

For thirty days we lived our lives growing mustaches one day at a time.

“We spent time with our families, went to work, some of us traveled, we ate, exercised, had a great thanksgiving, and of course did a lot of burpees.”

I’m sure all the guys will tell you that their lives were a bit different over the 30 days and also how the mustaches definitely got a lot of attention.

But that was the point.

To get people’s attention and get the word out about Men’s Health.

This was so much fun and I know we were all honored to take part in something that meant a lot to us.

2016 Team Preign Mantis Movember Results

  • 16 Men joined Team Preign Mantis and committed to growing a mustache for 30 days.
  • Team Preign Mantis raised over $2,200 dollars for Men’s Health.
  •  They lived a fit and active lifestyle for 30 days.
  • Grew some amazing and some not-so amazing mustaches!

Great Men and Their Mustaches!
