The Reign Committed Club | June 2017


The Committed Club is something really special to us and we’re truly excited that we get to introduce it next month in June.

We decided to not only launch a Committed Club for Reign but to instill what it preaches into our gym’s culture. It’s a challenge for consistency and a way to acknowledge hard work put in every month.

Being a part of the committed club is an honor and a testament to fitness gains. The more you’re at Reign, investing in yourself and doing things like crushing EMOMS/drilling technique and form, the closer you are to your goals.

To be a part of the committed club, you must check in and train at Reign, 20 times or more in one month.

At the end of June, we will announce our very first ever honorary group to enter into the Committed Club along with the number of times they trained at Reign next to their name. And at the end of every Month, we will announce another group entering into the Committed Club (for that month) and everyone who repeated along with the number of classes they trained at Reign for that month.


In April 2017: Elmer Crushed it with 22 training sessions at Reign! (and it definitely shows. Big shout out to you Elmer!)

6 Reasons Why You Should Be Drinking More Water | Coach Megan


We are always told to drink more water right (especially with this week’s nutrition challenge)?

Well here are some facts about WHY we should be drinking water!!

  1. If you often feel tired, there is a high chance you aren’t getting enough water. Want to try to wake up? Drink a glass of water and see how you feel!

  2. Soft drinks, coffee, and tea, while made up almost entirely of water, also contain caffeine. Caffeine can act as a mild diuretic, preventing water from traveling to necessary locations in the body.

  3. Headaches and migraines are often caused by dehydration. Drink plenty of water when this happens and see if it goes away without the use of meds.

  4. Water is one of the best detoxifiers because it helps flush out toxins from your body and gets rid of waste through sweat and urine. So drink lots of water, go to the bathroom a lot (yay for getting more steps in a day), and work out to get that good sweat going!

  5. Water improves functionality of the gastrointestinal tract and helps prevent constipation!

  6. But here is the best one yet… Water aids in WEIGHT LOSS!!! In clinical trials, it was found that drinking two eight ounce glasses of water prior to meals can help suppress appetite and help you feel more full!

5 Tips To Help You Crush The Reign Fitness Summer ’17 Challenge

As we head into week 2 of the Summer ’17 Challenge, I can’t express enough how amazing it is to see so many Reign Fam Members get excited to challenge themselves and take their fit journey to another level.

And with motivations high…

I wanted to take a quick second to share some tips that might help you along the way through the next, now 5 weeks. Please remember that some of these might work for you and some may not. My general rule is take what is useful and forget what isn’t.

However, you have to follow Tip #1 in the list below first before deciding that something isn’t working for you.

This fitness journey is different for everyone but the best part about it is we’re all in it together!


Here are my 5 Tips To Help You Crush The Reign Fitness Summer ’17 Challenge.

Tip #1 | Go All In


Too often, I see challengers go 70/30 maybe 80/20 when it comes to compliancy in fitness challenges like this Summer ’17 Fit Challenge.

They may finish all the physical challenges but miss a few nutrition challenges. They may even finish all the challenges but fall off on making it to classes.

They might even be an All Star and finish every physical & nutrition challenge but never get involved in the challenge community.

Whatever it is, without a full commitment, you’re selling yourself short.

There’s one common denominator in every successful Reign Fitness Challenger, they buy in 100%.

Go all in, because you deserve it.


Tip #2 | Lead Others 


A common misconception about challenges, even team challenges, is that they’re driven by individual effort.

Although this may be partly true, one thing I’ve noticed about members who see a lot of success and results in challenges is that they find a way to help motivate/encourage others. When you start leading from the front an interesting thing happens, you find a new motivation in your personal journey and another level of accountability.

Not only are you doing this challenge for yourself but your in it to help others with their journey.


You won’t slack because you know, they’re watching you for inspiration.


3. Trust The Process 


One important part of this journey is learning how to follow a program and trust the process. It’s common to see challengers get frustrated when they don’t see results after a week or two but remember, it often takes longer than this.

It takes your body 1-2 weeks to get used to cleaner foods, increased water intake, and more physical activity. Then it takes about another 2 weeks for your body to get used to the new routine but everyone is different so be sure not to compare yourself with others.

Give it time, stay consistent, and the results will come.


4. One Week At a Time


One very effective way to approach this challenge or any other fitness program is to compartmentalize it especially if it’s for 6 weeks or longer.

Sometimes treating each day as a brand new start can be too much so I suggest breaking things down into weeks.

If you did great last week, awesome job but start looking ahead and think about how you can make this coming week even better.

Had a rough start to last week, forget about it and move on. Review what happened, what was challenging, and focus on finding strategies that can really help you be successful.

The most important week is this week!


5. Don’t Leave Things Up For Chance

After talking with previous challengers about what was difficult for them and what they thought they could have done better…

Almost always the answer is, plan better.

Challengers who didn’t plan when they were going to do the challenges often times didn’t finish in time or got it in at the last minute. Most of these challengers expressed scheduling was the one strategy that could have helped them complete all the challenges. 

The Challengers who struggled with nutrition often expressed that they should have started meal planning and scheduling grocery shopping trips a lot earlier in the challenge.


We’re all busy with work, family, and life but it’s the challengers who schedule their priorities and not prioritize their schedules that end up doing really well in these Challenges.

Don’t leave things up for chance, plan!

BONUS TIP: “Use Your Coach”

This one is simple.

Your coaches are a fountain of knowledge, motivation, and inspiration.

Go talk to them, ask them questions, request homework, spend time with them!

Use your coach because they’re there for you!

5 Benefits To Early Morning Workouts | Coach Willie



I am sure you read the headline and probably thought to yourself, nope not for me.  Well give this read a few moments of your time before you completely write it off.

I love sleep just as much as anyone; if anything the way my schedule is I should be getting as much sleep as I can (I’ll save that post for another time).

Years before I began coaching I was the type of guy to workout in the evening.  It made complete sense, after a long day at work what a great time to go to the gym and release some stress from endless emails to sitting long hours, this was perfect.  I then realized I was way more tired, I was even more stressed thinking about what was for dinner, what activities did our family have going at that time, and happy hour just ruined any gym time.

“I made a sound decision if I am going to go to happy hour I better at least get my workout in. DONE AND DONE!!!”

5am workouts here I come, I was on a roll for a few days, super charged and motivated. That did not last long at all. I tried going to bed early, I tried setting my alarm earlier than usual to make sure I wake up.  Struggle after struggle but one thing I did not try was make my mind up that I was going to change.  I talked myself out of waking up.

“Oh well I’ll go later tonight” or “I’ll go tomorrow” And we all know where that leads us to know where.

It was all mental and I just took one day at a time, and if I did not make it I’d try and try again.  I was proud of myself, I realized I had much more of my day left without having the guilt of not working out.

Now two years later I wake up daily at 3am, with one alarm but I have 6 alarms set (3:03; 3:05;3:07;3:15; 3:30) .  I workout early because I have no other time in the day to do so and I know that is when I will get the most of my workout rather than later in the day.

5 Benefits To Early Workouts 


1.  You Are Done

You can be proud of yourself and say I worked out this morning and have no worries.  The day is yours, you can have time for family, go grocery shopping (I wouldn’t advise during the evening), you can get your nails done, go to your kids soccer practice, work late (only if you’re getting paid OVERTIME), happy hour if you so choose.


2. Energy

By the time you have shook off the cobwebs, your brain and body is awake ready to take on the day.


3. Self-Discipline


You have created a habit of building a routine into your daily schedule, which hopefully spills over into the rest of your life.


4. Better Sleep

Up early, now your body (clock) has a sense of healthier fatigue possibly you go to bed earlier than usual having more time to sleep.


5.  Reach Your Fitness Goals

You are opening the doors to take control of what is important to you.  Making a sacrifice of sleeping in to wake up means you are dedicated to the journey to change your lifestyle and meet your goals.

2017 Reign Fitness “Summer 17” Fitness Challenge


Summer is coming…

And this means Reign Fitness is challenging you to step your fitness game up, dial your nutrition in, and get motivated.

This year…

After receiving a lot of feedback, we are challenging you to commit for 6 weeks and go from the end of April all the way through May and into the beginning of June.

“But don’t worry, you’re not going to have to do this alone because this challenge will be a Team Challenge.”

Yes, this means more support, more accountability, and more energy. Not only will your individual effort count for you but it will also count towards your team, so it’s even more imperative that you continue to work hard.

There will be two teams, each led by two Reign Fitness Coaches.

“One team will be led by Coach Mesha and Coach Willie.”

“The other team will be led by Coach Megan and Coach Jodeci.”

After the success of the last team challenge and with all the incredible feedback we received from the Reign Fam, we are so excited to bring you this new Team Format!

We want this Challenge to…

  • Help you develop healthy lifestyle habits that will stick with you long term and help you towards fitness goals.
  • Be fun!
  • Strengthen our community by building more relationships with like minded individuals.

The Nutrition


For this challenge, we wanted to choose a nutrition protocol that was easy to follow, and promoted taking the time to eat real nutrient dense food.


We decided to go with the Paleo Nutrition Protocol.

Not only does the Paleo Nutrition Protocol promote eating real food it also has a big emphasis on eliminating the crap and things your body may have a negative response to.

You know…

Things like sugar, processed foods, certain grains, and dairy.

Why Eliminate? 

The 2 main factors why we like the eliminating aspect in the Paleo Protocol…

  • Removing things like sugar and processed foods in your diet can quickly help eliminate a lot of excess calories in your diet. Getting rid of unnecessary calories in your diet can help you lose weight quickly!
  • Removing certain types of foods like grains and dairy can be a little controversial as they should not be perceived as “bad food” however, many of us (myself included) can have a negative response to these types of food such as inflammation, bloating, and digestive issues. By eliminating them for a set period of time, it can help bring these negative responses to light and can help reset your body.

The Paleo Nutrition Protocol is still by far the most successful system we have used in a challenge setting. It was the easiest to implement, most manageable over an extended period of time, and produced the most results.

Familiarize yourself with the Paleo Nutrition Protocol before the challenge here. 

We will be providing more resources for you prior to the challenge.

*If you cannot follow a Paleo Nutrition Protocol due to health reasons, please connect with a coach. This will not make or break your ability to participate in this challenge, please communicate.

The Fitness


  • Monday of each week, we will announce either a physical challenge, nutrition challenge, team challenge, or a combination of the three.
  • Your team will receive 2 points for every team member that completes the challenge.
    • And if everyone on the team completes the challenge, you will receive an additional 10 points.
  • We will provide scaled movements for all of the physical challenges so that everyone has an opportunity to complete the challenges at their own fit level.
  • Challenges must be completed by Sunday 6pm the week of the challenge being issued. (No Exceptions)
  • Submission of challenge completion proof will be explained in the directions of the Challenge and due on your team page. (Do not submit proofs of workouts on the main challenge page.)
  • Your coaches will be in charge of your submission and your team’s overall submission for issuing of points.

Ex. Proof = Submit a picture of yourself and time of completion of the workout. 



Ex. Proof = Submit a picture of your meal.

For the Summer ’17 Fitness Challenge we are bringing you for the first time ever…

Team Challenge Events!

After the success of our Reign Fitness Athletes competing in the Crossfit Open, we wanted to bring the same high energy atmosphere and environment to the rest of our community. Not only was it awesome to watch athletes push each other, we were able to see an incredible level of support for everyone involved.

  • Each team will pick one individual or the specified number of team members for the week’s challenge… to workout live at Reign for the Team Challenge Event.
  • This event time, once decided, will be consistent throughout the challenge.
  • The Team Challenge Event will be open for everyone to come and support their team members participating in the challenge. Not only will this provide an amazing environment to workout in, it will give us opportunities as a community to come together and support each other.
  • Remember, you are not competing directly against the other team but working to add points to your own team’s total.

Team Challenge Event Rules

  • Once the Team Challenge is announced, it will be up to your Coaches and Team to decide on who will participate in the live event.
  • Each team member is only allowed to participate in one live event.
  • Point distributions for team challenge events will be based on the specified workout. (This will be a good opportunity to earn Bonus Points) These points will be in addition to all other challenges.
  • There won’t be a Team Challenge Event every week so please stay up to date with the Main Facebook Challenge Page and always stay in constant communication with your coaches.

Total Body Weight Percentage Lost 

Throughout the challenge, you and your team will be working towards a bodyweight percentage lost goal.

The team with the most bodyweight percentage lost will receive one Bonus Points to go towards their team total.

How Does It Work?


Sign up for the Challenge, get your payment confirmed, and submit your official pre-challenge weight and get measured (by April 21st, 2017)

  • Once we have confirmed your payment, you will be given access to The 2017 Reign Fitness “Summer 17” Challenge Facebook Page once it goes live. (If you do not have Facebook we highly recommend that you do create a profile for this challenge. If you absolutely can not create an account, please talk with a Reign Fitness Coach or your team coach.)
  • You will also need to schedule a time to come in and get weighed in and your measurements done by a coach. We will open up scheduling details soon but it will be done the week of April 17th. (If you can’t come in or don’t live close by please talk to a Reign Fitness Coach) Measurements are due April 21st, 2017.
  • After the registration deadline, Teams will be chosen on April 22, 2017 and you will be added to your Team’s Private Facebook Page. 
    • There you will meet your coaches and teammates.
  • Once you get access to the main Challenge Page, review the resources/rules and get to know your coaches/teammates.
    • Please remember that this Main Challenge Page is designed for Challenge News, Updates, and Challenges. You will not be able to post anything to the wall of this page. You will be able to post into the comment sections only.
    • You will also see challenge updates, reminders, daily/weekly motivations, and other challenger posts in your Team Challenge Facebook Page. Feel free to like, comment, and get involved because WE NEED YOU!
  • The first Challenge will be announced on Day 1 April 24th, 2017.
  • What can you do after you register…
    • A lot of challengers like to go grocery shopping and meal prep prior to the start of challenges to ensure they are better prepared for week 1.
    • You will also receive information on how to get more resources that can better help you throughout this Challenge so be sure to take advantage of that.
  • The team with the most points at the end of this challenge wins!
  • Yes, this is a team challenge but remember all individual efforts count!

March was another amazing month for the Reign Fitness Family!

Reign Fitness Ladies Night | April 7th 2017


With so many amazing women in our Reign Family, we wanted to dedicate an evening to celebrate all of you!

It’s an event we started a couple years ago to help the women in our community get to know each better, build relationships, and have fun.

“But since then, the Reign Ladies Night has turned into so much more!”

It’s become an event that not only celebrates real women and their fitness journey…

But also an opportunity for our community to reach out to the women in our lives and help them start their own health journey.

Reign Ladies, please reach out and invite friends, co-workers, and family members to come with you on Ladies Night. Please connect with Coach Mesha so she can get anyone you invite onto the list.

The Ladies night will start with a fun but challenging full body workout geared to make you sweat and feel good! If you haven’t been to our facility yet, all you need to do is…

  • Create an online account and sign the waiver here.
  • Then show up 10-15 minutes early to meet the coaches and get a quick overview of the warm-up and workout.


After the workout there will be…

  • Snacks and drinks.
  • Vendors setup to visit and offer goodies!
  • Tons of Raffles & Giveaways throughout the night.
  • Activities for you to participate in and win more prizes!

And of course while all of this is going on, there will be a room full of strong, beautiful, and real women to meet, network with, and support.
