We’re so excited to announce Wil as our Reign Fitness October 2016 Member of The Month because he 100% deserves this.
Wil always works hard, encourages others, and has a great spirit about him that really does inspire our community.
He’s more of a strong quiet type so it was great to get to know him better and see his responses to these questions. Thanks for being such an amazing part of our community Will!
Here is Wil…
Name: William Saguilla
1. How long have you been training at Reign? When did it all begin? Why Reign?
I have been training at Reign for about 5 ½ months. I started my trial classes back in April 2016 and decided to continue with the gym membership after the initial 30 days for two main reasons. For one, the gym hours worked around my schedule but most importantly because of the members in the community. Everyone at Reign is so friendly, encouraging and genuine.
2. Tell us a little about yourself. What’s a Day in the Life of Wil?
I am a pretty simple family man. I start my day fairly early in the morning around 4:30am taking care of my youngest daughter with her medical needs and then head to the gym for 6am class. After putting in a good sweat at the gym, I head directly to work on the shores of Lake Washington.
Other than the fact that it is for our local NFL team, it’s your typical sit down office job for 9+ hours. After work, I head home and assist where I can with my kids’ activities, whether it be drop off/ pick up duties from activities like soccer, golf or dance and/or help with Kumon and school homework. Tons of credit needs to be given to my better half Jonah who keeps our house in order which in turn makes my daily schedule life a whole lot easier.
3. What has been your biggest accomplishments here at Reign?
I would say my biggest accomplishment so far at Reign would be the consistency of showing up to classes at least 4 times a week. What will trump this will be the completion of the current team challenge and being able to carry forward what I have learned from it, specifically on nutrition, to make a permanent lifestyle change.
4. What are your future health and fitness goals you wish to accomplish at Reign?
Staying consistent with daily workouts of showing up at the gym at least 4 times a week and continuing with better eating habits. At the end of the day, I know I am not getting any younger so I just want to make sure I stay active enough to be able to keep up with my girls.
5. Tell us your favorite memory so far at Reign.
I don’t have any specific one. Any day I can come in to the gym and get a good sweat with the Reign Fam is always a good day.
6. What is it like having your wife a part of Reign’s 40 Day Team Challenge? Are your kids a part of your health & fitness lifestyle as well?
It’s been a good blessing to go through this journey with Jonah especially on the nutrition side of things. Jonah has always been a good cook but for her to be able to translate original recipes to be Paleo compliant has been awesome. Who would of thought Paleo style meals could almost taste as good as the original. My oldest daughter has never been a picky eater so she will eat some of the meals with us but my youngest isn’t down with it, maybe a cucumber salad here or there.
7. What is your favorite Filipino dish?
Hands down, it would have to be Chicken Adobo and Lumpia. Although I would never turn down the real original chicken adobo, Jonah’s Paleo recipe is pretty close to taste. Now the challenge is to find a Lumpia wrapper that is Paleo compliant.
8. What’s your favorite exercise, workout, movement and why? What’s your least favorite and why?
I know everyone is going to get on me for this answer, but it would have to be Burpees. Burpees are great to get a whole body workout as long as it isn’t combined with any other exercises, lol. Least favorite exercise would have to be the dreaded Assault Bike. I swear Albert and Mesha need to check the calorie meter on that machine because it seems to be completely off.
9. Tell us you favorite movie of all time and why?
I guess it would be Top Gun. It was the first movie I ever watched at an actual movie theater. Plus, who doesn’t like a Tom Cruise flick with a bunch of quotable lines.
10. What’s the first CD you ever bought?
Wow, that’s going back two decades ago. I believe it was A Tribe Called Quest “Low End Theory” album. It’s an old school classic that is still on my playlist.
11. What advice would you give to anyone looking to start their fitness journey?
Never be afraid to challenge yourself and most importantly be consistent.
12. Who is your Hero? Why?
I can’t say I only have one. I am who I am because of the people I surround myself with specifically family and friends.
13. If you were stuck on an island, share three things you would bring with you. Why?
First of all, I hope I never have to be faced with this situation in real life but if it were to happen in one of my crazy dreams it wouldn’t be things I would want to bring with me but the most three important people in mylife, my wife Jonah and my two girls Isabelle and Amaya. That way it almost feels like you’re not stranded but on vacation enjoying yourself with the most important people in your life.
14. What are your hobbies outside of Reign? With your family?
In general, anything that involves my family. To list one, it would be spending our Sundays at Century Link Field to cheer on the Seahawks.
15. If you could be any superhero, who would you be? Why?
I guess it would have to be Superman. Who wouldn’t want to have the power and strength of the man of steel.
I Love…my family.
I Am…thankful and humble for everything I have.
I Wish…peace among the human race.
I Eat…anything and everything.
