Although Dr.Martin Luther King Jr. worked to resolve much larger challenges like racial equality and non violence in America, his actions and words can motivate anyone who face challenges.

And believe it or not…

The fitness journey can be pretty hard.

It can be discouraging, frustrating, and relentlessly disappointing.

Your fitness journey can impact you so much because of how much it means to you.

I know first hand from personal experience that fitness can be about a whole lot more than just “what you look like”. For a lot of people, myself included, it really is about a personal journey with purpose.

I also know first hand that fitness success doesn’t come easy and can be very difficult.

“Difficult to endure. Difficult to stay motivated. Difficult to understand. Difficult to stay positive. Difficult.”

And inspiration can be hard to come by.

In Honor of  Dr.Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

I wanted to share some of his quotes to help motivate and inspire you in your fitness journey. (The second quote is one of my all time favorites and one I have had written down in my notebooks for a long time)

If you don’t need them now… write them down anyways and save them for when you do. You also might be the one to offer some motivation for someone else. After all, we are all in this fitness thing together right?

Here are some of our favorites from Dr. King…

“Faith is taking the first step even when you can’t see the whole staircase.” – MLK Jr.

“The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy.” – MLK Jr.

“Change does not roll in on the wheels of inevitability, but comes through continuous struggle.” – MLK Jr.

“If you can’t fly then run, if you can’t run then walk, if you can’t walk then crawl, but whatever you do you have to keep moving forward.” – MLK Jr.
