It was a busy weekend for the Reign Fitness Family. We started off our Saturday morning driving down to Kent, WA to meet up with a few of our Reign Strong ladies who were participating in the Christmas Rush Fun Run 5k.
I was excited to have my sister Divina join Ellen, Alisa and Marie in Reign Fitness & Performance’s very first 5k fun run. I’m not going to lie, we were freezing our butts off, but everyone had their own motivation to run this race.
This was Ellen & Alisa’s first race ever, it was Marie’s birthday, this was my sisters first 5k (even though she’s ran a half and full marathon), and this was my first time running in a race since my foot injury & surgery this year. Everyone did awesome!
It was awesome to see so many people and kids participating in the race. As personal trainers, it really is inspiring to see people staying active and making fitness a part of their lifestyle, so to see everyone out there even in the freezing cold was awesome. Everyone was showcasing their Christmas spirit with colorful socks, festive shirts, and even holiday hats.
The Christmas spirit was in full effect. There was even one point in the race where a dad who was running with his kids, brought out a portable radio playing Christmas music. But it didn’t stop there. There were people singing Christmas carols, jingle bells jingling on ankles, and even dogs dressed up as reindeer running alongside their owners.
One of the more awesome sights was the amount of kids running in the event. These kids weren’t just running either, they were racing to finish with good times. We watched a lot of them not only pass us but finish before us. It really was an inspiring sight to see and it was a lot of fun to run with everyone.
(This girl finished in under 19 minutes and finished before a lot of competitive people. WOW.)
None of us cared too much on what place we finished in (even though we all are pretty competitive), the most important thing was that we all had fun doing something active together. Although we couldn’t feel our toes at the end, we all finished strong without stopping. Each of us crossed the finished line representing what Reign Strong meant to each of us whether it was community, relationships, health, fitness, strength, inspiration, motivation, endurance and love.
We are already planning the next race and hope to have more Reign Fitness members participate with us. If you are interested in joining us, keep an eye out on the Reign Fitness & Performance Facebook Page for updates on races and opportunities to participate. Don’t worry if you’re not a member, we would love to have you join us. (One of the girls who participated with us for this race said, “she never did a race because she had no one to do it with. Well we don’t ever want that to stop anyone.)
Be sure to keep an eye open for the next blog post to hear all about the 2013 Reign Fitness Holiday Party. Plus, photos of all the awesome baked goods from our first ever Reign Fitness bake-off and Reign Fitness Ugly Christmas Sweater Contest.
