1. Have Confidence
Fitness can be frustrating.
One week can be full of victories, the following week plagued with defeats. I see a lot of people experience these highs and lows but the ones who consistently see results, never lose their confidence.
Confidence keeps you going.
If you lose it, lie to yourself until it comes back.
2. Nutrition That Works For You
Paleo, intermittent fasting, carb cycling, and zone diets are all popular right now.
The problem is that they all work. All these diets work for different types of people but you have to find the one that works for you.
The results really come from consistently sticking with one diet long enough to see a difference.
3. Train Hard
Remember that each time you workout is an opportunity to make progress and get a step closer to your goals.
Gym time is your time. Time you devote to improve the quality of your life through health and fitness.
Train hard because that’s what you’re there for. Don’t forget it.
4. Expect Things To Get Harder
The more in shape you get, the harder you have to train to keep seeing results. The same goes for your nutrition.
But as Rob and Dana Bailey from Flag Nor Fail say… “Love the Process”
5. Don’t Let Others Bring You Down
People can suck.
They can bring you down, make fun of you, and be unsupportive of your goals. Forget them.
You’re trying to do something awesome for yourself, don’t let anyone stop you.
6. Use Your Best Judgement
Okay, this was a company motto from a job I had before personal training but it works so well in fitness.
When you’re trying to decide what to eat or what to workout and you really don’t know, simply use your best judgment.
You are usually always right. (When debating between the healthier choice of two meals, you usually know the answer. Don’t lie to me.)
7. Don’t Believe The Hype, It’s Marketing
A lot of people still buy into the rapid weight loss deals and 6 week to 6 pack abs programs.
It’s cool if it helps you finally get started but remember that it’s still just marketing. Don’t believe the hype.
Fitness and real Instagram selfie worthy results are honest. You work hard and the results come from a lifestyle change influenced by your fitness goals. It’s not the quick fix programs that are getting you the results, it’s you, working hard that EARNS the results. (plus those rapid results programs are kind of sketchy)
8. Surround Yourself With Community
A supportive fitness community is any group of people in person or online that supports you and your fitness goals.
Being around people that are willing to listen, help, and give support is awesome and definitely contributes to the success of many of our own clients. If you don’t have one now, feel free to join the Reign Fitness Community on Facebook.
Change your training.
Change your diet.
Change your goals.
Change your exercises.
I see people do the same thing for months, just going through the motions. Change can help you see more results, fix problematic areas, and get you excited about fitness again. Make changes to see changes.
